The site features oak pasture woodland with old wide-crowned specimen of pedunculate oak Quercus robur of Pannonian grove type. The woodland is characteristic for open canopy and low intensity of grazing regime. Oaks featured are several hundred years old and bear all typical traits of their age (deep hollows, etc.). The site is in danger of becoming gradually overtaken by successional vegetation (pine, birch, sloe, aspen, ruderal herb communities). The site features the only example of such habitat found in Slovakia and is noted to support biological community rich in both Mediterranean and Pannonian species of insect.

Within Slovakia, the site represents an unique complex of old pasture oakwoods with typically open canopy featuring a whole range of the thermophilous insecta typical for the warmer Meditteranean and Pannonian regions. The site is protected within the national network of protected areas.

Major threat to the current status of the site might come from rhw inappropriate degree of agricultural practices that is to say both overgrazing and insufficient intensity of grazing are harmful as is further intensification of the local agricultural production.
