Popis územia
The site is located on the southern border of the Štiavnické vrchy mountain range of the south-western elevation point 290,1 Šandorky near to the St. Urban chapel. Geological basement is formed by andesite, the bedrock emerge to the surface in places. Vegetation cover consists of xerophilous grassland vegetation accompanied with Prunus fruticosa in places.
Ciele ochrany
The aim of protection is to preserve the habitat of xerophilous vegetation with the isolated occurrence of the Echium russicum and Pulsatilla grandis populations.
Quality and importance:
The site is significant for the preservation of Echium russicum habitat, one of few well-preserved populations in the southwestern Slovakia. Other significant species - Pulsatilla grandis, Orchis morio.
Zraniteľnosť
The site is located in the cente of the vineyard area near to St. Urban chapel. It is threatened by accumulated waste produced on the vineyards boundaries. It is also likely endangered by abandonment of land, secondary succession and cumulating biomass which causes changes in the plant community conditions and destroys occurence of Echium russicum. Transformation of former pastures into vineyard represents a potential threat to the site.
