The site covers the large interdune spring depression. It is a part of the geomorphological unit Záhorská nížina Lowland, subunit Borská nížina Lowland, part Bor. Geological basement is formed by the Neogene sediments. According to the Slovak phythogeographical categorization, the site belongs to the area of the Pannonian flora (area Pannonicum, part Eupannonicum, region Záhorská nížina Lowland). The following habitats of national importance are also present: pine-oak acidophilous forests, alder swamp forests, large sedge and Phalaris arundinacea beds, soft water springs, shallow-water floating communities and mire willow scrubs. Pine-oak acidophilous forests are developed on the top of the dunes with the more extreme habitat conditions, alder swamp forests are limited to the wet interdune parts. Within the forest habitats, all succession phases are developed (growth, optimum and decomposition). The habitats are important for the occurrence of many protected and endangered species in the site.

The site represents the unique example of transition mires, quaking bogs and dystrophic standing waters developed in the interdune depression with the occurrence of the typical rare and endangered species (Sphagnum sp., Utricularia sp., Hottonia palustris, Hydrocotyle vulgaris) within Slovakia. The site hosts also the invertebrates of national importance (Mantis religiosa).

The site with a high level of vulnerability. Water regime is threatened especially by draining (existing network of the drainage canals) as well as a potential change of the water regime (i.e. further draining). Forest communities are threatened by clearcutting and the overall soil preparation after cutting (the whole soil profile including the roots remnants is piled up into mounds using heavy mechanisms).
