Spermophilus citellus, Vertigo angustior

The site features several springs of underground partially mineralised waters which gave way to the formation of Histosols. High content of salts in local waters supports the existence of unique floral communities.

The site features last remaining fragments of relic fens with high content of carbonates on the transition to the Inner Carpathian salt meadows that have remained preserved despite substantial melioration and land reclamation measures carried out in the last century. The site fosters rare plant communities of saline fens whose successful existence is underlain by sufficiently high water table. These communities harbour a whole range of endangered, rare and protected flora species.

Resident communities of plants and animals are for their survival directly dependent on the sufficiently high level of water table and regular removal of biomass. Due to the nearness of village structures and intensive forms of land management in the surrounding area degree of site vulnerability has been concluded high.
