Branisko Mts. is noted for its exceptionally well-preserved natural conditions. Rajtopíky site is situated in its central part along both sides of the ridge. Sharply cut topography features several remarkable rocky phenomena, such as rocky gate, rocky towers and a cave.

The site is noted for the presence of a unique well-preserved complex of forest and rocky habitats evolved over limestone-dolomite basement of the central part of Branisko Mts. Forest habitats foster semi-natural biological communities which thanks to limited human impact have sustained majority of their characteristic features. Rocky habitats are valuable for dealpine communities featuring several rare and endemic species of plants including Slovakian pasque-flower Pulsatilla slavica, endemic grass species of Slovak flora Koeleria tristis as well as other endemites of Carpathian flora. Part of the site overlaps with National Nature Reserve Rajtopíky.

The site is most vulnerable around its margins where the forest stands meet agricultural land and human settlements. Site's petrifying springs and the fen on the alluvium of the Biely potok stream (western edges of the site) might also be subjected to disturbance factors.
