Popis územia
The site is formed by a karstic island of Švermovské hrdlo with a distinctive drop-off under which an underground stream has given the origin to a sizeable cave system (1 km in length) featuring rich sinter adornments and underground stream endowed by a waterfall.
Ciele ochrany
Conservation efforts within the site focus on the preservation of the cave area noted as regular wintering ground for 10 species of bats out of which 4 are listed as the species of European importance. From the vegetation point of view, the site is worth attention for the occurrence of communities of 40A0* Continental deciduous thickets covering the rocky drop-off of Homoľa.

To protect the site it is desirable to regulate the activities associated with the scientific research and public entrance to the Homoľa cave.
