Myotis emarginatus, Myotis myotis

The site represents the top part of the extreme sandy dunes. It is the part of the geomorphological unit Záhorská nížina Lowland, subunit Borská nížina Lowland, part Bor. It represents the typical sandy area with the acid siliceous sands formed in the Neogene period. Sandy dunes follow the direction of the prevailing NW-SE wind. According to the Slovak phytogeographical categorization, the site belongs to the area of the Pannonian flora (area Pannonicum, part Eupannonicum, region Záhorská nížina Lowland). There is also the habitat of national importance present: pine-oak acidophilous forests, however, it overlaps with the site only marginally and it is mostly in the phases of optimum and decomposition. However, it is important for the occurrence of many protected and endangered fauna species in the site.

Main subject of protection of the site is represented by the extraordinary well-preserved natural non-forest communities of the open sands on acid substrates with the occurrence of protected and endangered psamophytes as Stipa borysthenica, Spergula pentandra, etc. It is also the typical habitat of animals that are adapted to the extreme conditions and that are one of the most endangered species at the pan-European scale due to their specific ecological requirements (high number of the psamophile invertebrate representatives of Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Heteroptera, Lepidoptera, Araneida, Orthoptera, etc.). The site is also important due to the occurrence of invertebrate species of national importance Mantis religiosa, Menephilus cylindricus and Meloe proscarabeus.

The site with a low level of vulnerability. The highest threat is given by the initial natural succession.
